Design just shifted

Design is shifting. Again. We’ve seen this before: from Photoshop to Sketch. From Sketch to Figma. And now from tools to something bigger. Something closer to how we actually think, ideate and create.

Figma didn’t just drop an update. It reintroduced itself. This isn’t just a design tool anymore. It’s becoming a full creative operating system, where you can brainstorm, prototype, vibing code, and even ship real products. All without leaving the canvas. And that changes… everything. And nothing. Let me explain.

The tools are levelling up but your mindset still matters more.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when software starts doing all the things. Should you dive into every new feature? Master AI workflows? Panic because the machine can now generate decent UI while you’re leaning back and drinking coffee? But here’s the truth: the best designers aren’t defined by their tools. They’re defined by how they think.

So what now?

This is where it gets fun. We’re entering an era where creativity is faster, more fluid, and powered by machines that don’t sleep. But that doesn’t mean your value disappears. That’s still rare. It means you get to decide where you spend your energy.

Here’s what I’m focusing on:

  • Playing with new tools, but staying grounded in what actually solves problems
  • Watching how AI reshapes the role of a designer, not just the workflow
  • Doubling down on things no tool can replicate: insight, storytelling, and taste.

The best designers aren’t defined by their tools.

Execution is getting easier. But taste? That’s still rare—the ability to know what to leave out, when to stop, what feels just right. So no, this isn’t the end of design. It’s the beginning of a new kind. One that rewards those who adapt, without losing their edge. Who learn the tools, but stay guided by their instincts.

P.S. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Are you excited? Skeptical? Somewhere in between? Just hit reply. Let’s chat.
